What Is Branding?
Branding is the intentional process of shaping how people recognize, remember, and experience you as an artist. While many people think branding is simply a logo or a color palette, those are only visual expressions of something much deeper.
A brand is your reputation made visible.
It includes your artwork, your personality, your message, your professionalism, your website, your social media, your exhibitions, and every interaction people have with you. Every experience someone has with your work, it either strengthens your brand or weakens it.
Branding answers one simple question:
"What do people think about when they hear your name?" Think about that, when I say Norman Rockwell, Ralph Lauren or Smithsonian, what do you think of...that thought is their "brand." So, what is your brand?
Successful branding creates recognition, trust, and emotional connection. When collectors, galleries, museums, or supporters consistently experience the same quality, message, and professionalism, they begin to remember you—and remember why your work matters.
